Report: Investigators Looking into Cause of Fatal Truck Crash

One man is dead following an early morning semi-truck accident that occurred along U.S. Highway 290. According to KXAN, a freight-liner carrying seafood and a towing truck collided head-on after the driver of the freight-liner heading westbound reportedly crossed over onto the eastbound lanes. The driver of the towing truck was taken to the hospital, while the driver of the freight-liner died at the scene.

Law enforcement is investigating the accident that left the highway shutdown for six hours as workers cleared debris left behind after the collision. While the cause of the accident had yet to be determined, the Department of Public Safety notes that the crash is an important reminder for drivers to remain alert and limit distractions, regardless of the circumstances. According to the report, the Texas Department of Transportation has said they would spend $2 million to fund projects that would increase visibility and warning advisories along US 290.
